If you have not completed a Waiver form, bring a signed form with you on your first day of play.
STEP1
The game starts with a "Good Bowling" gesture for those bowling on your rink. We are encouraging the use of the Shaka sign to start and end a game. A coin is tossed to see which team bowls first. Bowlers should use their own set of bowls or a set assigned to them. Equipment must not be shared or touched by any other bowlers. STEP 3
The jack is delivered. It must be at least 21 metres from the mat and must land short of the ditch. Regardless of who bowls first, the Skip of one team will place and centre the jack at 2m from the ditch. The other Skip will place and centre the jack at the other end. STEP 5
Teams alternate taking shots. Each member of the team will take all of their shots before the next one takes over. For example both leads will take turns rolling all their bowls. The Vice Skips will then bowl all their bowls, The bowlers will change ends and then the Skip's will roll their bowls. Use the right boundary line when changing ends. STEP 7 Any bowls that are in play can be moved by another shot, and they stay active to where they finish on the rink. This includes the jack. Bowls that are hit into the ditch or out of bounds are dead and removed from play. Bowls that have been declared out of play can be kicked to the ditch in the unused rink until the owner can retrieve it. STEP 9
Once all players have finished their shots the game is scored. Each Skip should keep their own scorecard. STEP 11
Bowlers will collect their own bowls and place at the starting position. At the start of each end, each team's bowls will be on opposite sides of the rink, behind the mat. The Skip's bowls can be kicked into the starting position. The lead of the team in charge of the mat at that end will place the mat. The team that scored in the last end will bowl first. |

STEP 2
The first bowler places the mat. It must be placed centrally and a minimum of 2m from the ditch. Regardless of which team bowls first, one lead will look after the mat at one end and the other lead will look after the mat at the opposite end. The mat will be placed 3m from the ditch. STEP 4
Once the jack has come to a rest, the lead helps the skip centre the jack using hand signals. The jack now becomes the target. The lead who placed the mat will help the Skip centre the jack using hand signals.
STEP 6 When playing any shot, the player must always have all or part of one foot on or over the mat. TIP: Place your anchor foot on the middle of the mat to start and align your body. Take one step with the other foot when you deliver the bowl. STEP 8
Any bowl that finishes in the ditch is considered out of play unless it first touches the jack. Touchers can be marked with spray chalk or designated as a toucher. STEP 10 The winning side gets one point for each bowl that is closer to the jack than their opponent's nearest bowl. The winning team gets to go first the next end. STEP 12
This will be played from the opposite end. When players are not in possession of the rink, they should stand at least two metres behind the mat and on the side where their bowls are, maintaining a safe physical distance from the mat. Good Bowling!
