No Bowling Today! It's beginning to look a lot like winter after the snowfall on Sunday. Thanks to Bob Reid for these recent pictures of the ongoing construction around our clubhouse. No bowling today but with the success of the limited bowling this year we are hoping to see even more next year. |

What's Happening at CLBC In May, 2020
The Covid Emergency Measures continue in the province, and we are wondering what will happen with the 2020 season. There is still lots of activity around the clubhouse though! Our clubhouse and entrance cannot be seen because of the construction. Thanks to EBC Construction for moving our sign to the road so people will know we are still here. |

Everyone who has been past the clubhouse this winter was surprised to see the clubhouse site looking more like a construction site than a lawn bowling club. Little did we realize that the reconstruction of the dam would affect our clubhouse to this extent. The scope of work at Ranney Falls in Campbellford is to extend useful life and increase unloading capacity of the existing Dam.
So...what exactly is going on here? This is taken from the EBC Construction website to explain the project. The work includes the addition of two new sluices on the west bank, each 10.1 meters wide, the extension of the main public road bridge and the installation of a new control building. The complexity of this project requires the installation of a temporary bridge to keep road traffic on the dam. Further, the gas main and the sanitary force main, which cross the river, must be functional at all times, which requires the installation of temporary lines which will be heated above ground to guarantee continuous service until the pumping station. A special feature of this new dam is the installation of two automatic gates with hoists to control the discharge. Dam 10 rehabilitation is part of Parks Canada’s investment program in infrastructure works targeting heritage properties, visitor facilities, waterways and roads in national historic sites, national parks and national marine conservation areas of Canada. The work began in December 2019 and will end in September 2021. |
